School Meals and Packed lunches
Hudson Primary is a healthy school. The curriculum enables us to promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. We promote health awareness in all members of the school community. Adults across the school provide a valuable role model to pupils with regard to food and healthy eating patterns.
We ensure that all aspects of food and drink in school promote the health and wellbeing of pupils. We make sure that we are giving consistent messages about food and health.

School meal costs
We would like to inform you that school meals are now charged at a daily cost of £2.10 (September 2018), however there are still free school meal options that many of our parents are eligible for, but have not yet taken up, come in and talk to a member of our team for further details. Remember KS1 children are entitled to a free meal but notification of acceptance of this needs to be given.
The children are expected to stack empty trays, dirty cutlery and any rubbish in the allocated places before leaving the dinner hall. Click on the left link for current lunch menus.
School lunches and packed lunches
Some children bring a packed lunch to school. We regularly include newsletter items and information leaflets with suggestions for the contents of these and we do not allow sweets, chocolate bars or fizzy drinks.
Water for all
Cooled water is freely available throughout the school day to all members of the school community. Water fountains are located in the children’s toilet areas. Children are encouraged to bring a bottle of water into school with them. Some classes organise jugs and cups of water if staff deem this more appropriate. Children may drink their water at any time except during the 15 minute assembly. Regular breaks are built into the school day and curriculum by class teachers. EYFS and KS1 children are also reminded to drink water at their snack time.
All our under 5s are entitled to free milk which is organised by the EYFS staff. All EYFS and KS1 classes include a snack of washed fruit to all children. We are taking part in the Government initiative, the Free Fruit Scheme to provide all infants with free fruit and vegetables during the day. KS2 children are encouraged to bring fruit which they can eat at playtime.
