Our Graduated Response to Parent and Carer Queries

At Hudson Primary School, we value positive and respectful communication with parents and carers. We recognise that questions, concerns and misunderstandings can arise, and we want to make sure that families know who to speak to and how we will respond.

Our graduated approach helps us resolve queries at the most appropriate level, as quickly and effectively as possible.

Step 1 – Speak to the Class Teacher

For questions or concerns relating to your child's day-to-day learning, friendships, behaviour, homework or experiences in class, your child's class teacher will usually be the best person to speak to first.

Teachers know your child well and will often be able to resolve queries quickly or provide the information you need.

Step 2 – Speak to a Member of the Leadership Team

If your query cannot be resolved with the class teacher, or if it relates to a wider school matter, you may be directed to an appropriate member of our Senior Leadership Team.

They will listen to your concerns, consider the information available and work with you and relevant staff to identify an appropriate way forward.

Step 3 – Headteacher

Where a matter remains unresolved, or where it is appropriate because of the nature of the concern, the Headteacher, Mrs Craddock, may become involved.

The Headteacher will consider the information available, ensure that the school's policies and procedures have been followed and determine what further action, if any, is required.

Step 4 – Formal Procedures

Some matters require a formal process rather than the informal resolution of a query. Where this is the case, we will explain the appropriate procedure and provide you with the relevant information.

This may include our Complaints Procedure, Attendance Policy, Safeguarding Procedures or other statutory processes, depending on the nature of the concern.

Working Together

We ask that parents and carers give staff the opportunity to listen, investigate and respond appropriately. Some queries can be resolved immediately, while others may require us to speak to staff, check records or gather further information before providing a full response.

We are committed to dealing with concerns fairly, respectfully and professionally, while maintaining confidentiality and ensuring that the wellbeing and best interests of all children remain at the heart of our decision-making.

Our aim is always to listen, understand, resolve and, where necessary, learn and improve.
