Sports Premium

What is Sports Premium?

The PE and Sport Premium is government funding provided to primary schools to improve the quality and sustainability of physical education, physical activity and sport.

Schools decide how to use the funding in response to the needs of their pupils. The funding is intended to support improvements that have a lasting impact, including developing staff expertise, improving the quality of PE teaching, increasing participation in physical activity and sport, and providing opportunities for pupils to develop healthy and active lifestyles.

At Hudson Primary School, we use our PE and Sport Premium to support our commitment to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to be active, develop physical skills, enjoy sport and experience success, regardless of their background or individual circumstances.

Our provision includes opportunities within the curriculum and through wider school life, including enrichment, competition, outdoor learning and extra-curricular activities. We also consider how PE and sport can contribute to pupils’ confidence, teamwork, resilience, wellbeing and personal development.

How much funding do we receive?

Our PE and Sport Premium allocations have been:

  • 2024–25: £18,050

  • 2025–26: £18,100

We review our use of the funding annually to ensure that it is supporting identified priorities and making a positive difference to pupils.

How do we use the funding?

Our spending priorities may include:

  • Developing the knowledge and confidence of staff to deliver high-quality PE.

  • Providing a broad range of sporting and physical activity opportunities.

  • Increasing participation in physical activity and competitive sport.

  • Providing opportunities for pupils to represent Hudson in sporting events and competitions.

  • Developing access to equipment, resources and facilities.

  • Supporting inclusive participation so that pupils with different needs can access physical activity and sport.

  • Providing enrichment opportunities that develop teamwork, confidence, resilience and leadership.

  • Supporting pupils to develop healthy, active lifestyles that can continue beyond primary school.

We evaluate the impact of our spending and use this information to inform future planning and provision.
