School Uniform

School Uniform

We expect all children at Hudson Primary School to wear their uniform correctly and with pride as members of our school community. We ask for your support in ensuring that your child arrives at school properly dressed, prepared and ready to learn, including having the correct kit for PE and swimming.

We understand that children can sometimes misplace clothing and that this can be frustrating for families. Please make sure that every item of clothing, including PE kit, is clearly labelled with your child's name. This makes it much easier for us to return lost items to their owners.

  • School navy V-neck sweatshirt or cardigan

  • Grey skirt or trousers
(Leggings, joggers and fashion bootleg trousers are not part of our school uniform.)

  • Dark-coloured, low-heeled, closed footwear with a secure back

  • Red polo shirt

  • Grey trousers or shorts

  • Dark-coloured school shoes
(Please do not wear trainers as part of the everyday school uniform.)

Year 6

As our Year 6 children prepare for secondary school, their uniform includes:

  • White shirt

  • Red school tie

  • School navy V-neck sweatshirt

  • Grey trousers or skirt

  • Appropriate dark-coloured school footwear

PE and Sports Kit

Children should attend school in their PE kit on their allocated PE day and remain in PE kit for the full school day, including their school pullover or cardigan.

This helps us to maximise the time available for physical activity and avoids valuable learning time being lost changing before and after PE.

Indoor PE

  • Navy shorts

  • Red T-shirt

  • Black pumps

Outdoor PE

  • Dark tracksuit bottoms

  • Red T-shirt

  • Trainers

Swimming – Key Stage 2

When it is your child's term to swim, children should come to school wearing their normal school uniform and bring the correct swimming kit in a waterproof bag.

Girls:

  • Full swimming costume

  • Swimming cap

Boys:

  • Swimming trunks

  • Swimming cap

Children should also bring:

  • Towel

  • Brush or comb

Jewellery, Hair and Appearance

For health and safety reasons, small, plain stud earrings only are permitted in school.

Earrings must be removed for PE and swimming. Where a child is unable to remove their own earrings, they must be removed at home before coming to school or covered securely with plasters, with written parental consent.

Hair should be tied back where appropriate using dark-coloured, simple hair accessories. Hairstyles and accessories should be practical for school, should not present a health and safety risk and should not distract from learning or conflict with our smart school appearance.
