Governance Information
Governance at Hudson Primary School
Whilst Mrs Craddock is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of Hudson Primary School, our Governing Body provides strong strategic leadership, challenge and support to ensure that every child and family experiences excellence.
The Governing Body:
-
Sets the strategic direction of the school, establishing our vision, values and aims and ensuring these are reflected in our policies and practice.
-
Agrees and monitors the school improvement strategy, including statutory targets, priorities, staffing structures and the effective use of the school’s resources.
-
Provides challenge and accountability, monitoring the quality and impact of the school’s work, including the performance of the Headteacher, progress against school improvement priorities and the effectiveness of our policies and procedures.
-
Supports and evaluates school self-evaluation, ensuring that governors have a clear understanding of the school’s strengths and areas for further development.
-
Ensures effective oversight of safeguarding, SEND, attendance, behaviour, finance and other key statutory responsibilities.
-
Responds to external evaluation and accountability, including School Improvement and Ofsted reports, ensuring that recommendations and areas for development are acted upon.
Our Governing Body
Our Full Governing Body meets at least five times each year, normally on a Wednesday evening.
A number of committees undertake specific areas of work delegated by the Full Governing Body. These committees meet at least once each term, with committees such as Performance and Scrutiny meeting each half term where required.
Governors at Hudson are expected to play a full and active role in the life and strategic development of the school. Governors are linked to specific areas of school improvement and statutory responsibility, with individual governors taking particular responsibility for areas such as SEND, safeguarding, attendance, Pupil Premium and curriculum.
Governors in School
Our governors are encouraged to visit Hudson during the school day. These visits provide an opportunity to see our work in action, meet staff and children, and develop a first-hand understanding of how we are addressing our priorities for improvement.
Governors are also warmly welcomed at school events throughout the year, including Christmas productions, sports events, performances, celebrations and our annual musical. This helps our governors remain connected to the children, families and wider community that they serve.
At the end of each academic year, governors join us for our annual Praise Assembly, celebrating the achievements, progress and contributions of our children.
Our governors are an important part of the Hudson community. Through their strategic oversight, challenge, support and commitment, they help us to ensure that everyone experiences excellence.
